Week 8. Sahasrara Chakra
Light – Cognitive / Shadow – Attachment
Color – Violet / Element – Thought or Consciousness
STEP 1: Read theory & take notes
Sahasrara means thousand-fold, it is the point of energy that connects our physical body with the seven corresponding chakras to the eighth chakra which is prana or the essence or god. Breathe into that space. The color of the Sahasrara chakra is violet. The element is thought or consciousness.
Visualize the colour violet, imagine it’s aura surrounding your being, beyond that imagine a white golden light bathing you, protecting you & illuminating your body, feel the warmth of this light, a radiating force that emanates from outside your physical self as well as from within.
It is the highest Chakra & seventh level of our anatomy, which represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually and its job is to awaken you to the truth of who you really are: a magnificent, infinite soul and being of light, temporarily housed in a body experiencing life on earth.
The life force from the creator penetrates into our energy system through the crown, and moves down through the other energy centers to the root chakra. From here we are inspired by God, and filled with Grace, because we have a strong connection to a power greater than ourselves. We live in present time and our spirits live in the now in harmony with our form and Will.
When one awakens to this truth, one experiences a peace so deep, and a joy so blissful that everything else ever experienced pales in comparison. This experience is what people call enlightenment.
- The Sahasrara chakra helps us to explore transcendent ideas, like our higher power, divinity, union, our values & ethics, our courage, humanitarianism, the ability to see a bigger picture, inspiration, faith, spirituality & devotion.
- This sacred energy center transcends our awareness beyond the physical body & human consciousness. It binds us to the mystical realm, where we cultivate a relationship with the divine, that is beyond ordinary human understanding.
- When this chakra is blocked it affects all of the major systems in the body, including the central nervous system, the muscular system, the hormonal system & the skin.
- The life challenges that can block this chakra are forced religion, dogmatic thinking & education that suppresses curiosity, spiritual abuse or bypass, lies & miss information, the invalidation of one’s beliefs systems.
- When this energy center is deficient we can experience spiritual cynicism, have learning difficulties, a rigid belief system, we can be desensitized, or apathetic.
- When this energy center is excessive we can over intellectualize, have spiritual addiction, be disassociated from the body & experience confusion.
- The physical challenges that can inform us that this chakra is blocked are migraines, amnesia, cognitive delusions, vertigo or dizziness, confusion, comas, brain tumors.
We practice asana so that we can learn to sit in meditation & in prayer without physical discomfort or emotional distraction. We practice asana to cleanse ourselves of the physical & emotional tension & toxins, so we can quiet our minds & deepen our ability for presence.
Meditation connects us to the divine within. Reminding us again and again of our authentic identity, source & light & the relationship we have with the mystery within & beyond.

STEP 3: Read the below & then in your journal respond to the questions that are resonating with you.
DIG DEEP, STAY PRESENT & BREATHE
The questions you would ask when exploring the chakra would be related to beauty, surrender & connection with source.
Do you take the time to see & experience the beauty that surrounds you? in nature music, art?
Can you see the beauty in others?
What is beautiful to you?
Have you experienced serenity?
What does serenity feel like on a physical level?
Can you identify it in your body?
What does it feel like on an emotional or mental level?
It is it a quality of mind or a state of being?
What is your relationship with GOD?
Do you feel connected to a source?
What is this source?
Is it something that exists outside of your body? Outside of your reach?
What are your highest spiritual truths about yourself, life, death, change?
Are you open to the mystery?
What does this mean?
How has the mystery revealed itself to you & your life?
Do you trust this source?
Or do you often empower institutions, religions, gurus, healers or even clairvoyants to give you the answers to life?
Have you lost your purpose?
Have you lost your focus?
What is the quality of your spiritual life?
Can you feel a higher power governing your life?
Do you feel inspired, and open to new ideas?
Do you often feel confused or depressed?
Do you meditate?
Do you pray to God, thanking Him for all that you are, and show gratefulness for what you have? Are you always complaining to God about your unhappiness?
Breathe in deeply into your being, draw down this light, welcome it into your body, recognize this energy as grace, am energy that heals, transcends, loves. This energy is not interested in your gender, ethnicity, religion, weight, sexual orientation, political affiliation or whether you’ve been good or bad. This energy is available when we open our consciousness to it & let it enter.
Embrace its capacity to transform us, shift us, awaken us, embrace it capacity to inform our visions, stimulate our actions & deepen our ability to love.
